Shahrir settles suit against Latheefa, MACC, govt on alleged malicious prosecution

Court

A civil suit filed by Umno veteran Shahrir Samad against former MACC chief Latheefa Koya, the anti-graft agency, and the government over alleged malicious prosecution has been amicably resolved at the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

The former Felda chairperson’s counsel, Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin, told judge Gan Techiong that his client had reached a resolution with the second to fourth defendants.

The judge ordered Sharir’s claims against them to be discontinued without liberty to file afresh and with no order as to costs.

However, the ex-MP’s suit against the first defendant, former attorney-general Tommy Thomas, remains pending. The court fixed Oct 16 to hear Shahrir’s application for leave to discontinue the action against Thomas. - Mkini
