The Umno deputy president says the party must regain its strength using its own strategies.

Mohamad Hasan said the party must regain its strength using its own strategies.
“We do not have any other lifeline, save for our self-sufficiency and resilience,” Mohamad, better known as Tok Mat, said when officiating the general assembly of Umno Youth, Wanita and Puteri here tonight.
He called on delegates to bear in mind that as long as it relied on other parties, Umno was still far from being rejuvenated.
“If we continue to depend on the strength of others, we can achieve our short-term goals, but it would be detrimental to Umno in the long run,” he said.
Mohamad also said Umno should not be won over by “seasonal” political alliances adding that the party needed to rebuild its own strength so that “we will not have to depend on others for our survival”.
His caution against relying on other parties for its survival comes in the wake of its electoral pact with PAS at the recent Negeri Sembilan election, which saw the party wrest the state from PH.
Umno, which is the Barisan Nasional lynchpin, is also part of the unity government formed with PH at the federal level, despite winning only 26 seats in the last general election. - FMT
