KUALA LUMPUR: Umno will hold a workshop and retreat in Melaka to develop a comprehensive blueprint for the eight initiatives under the Blue Malaysia Agenda, said party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Zahid said the workshop, to be organised by the Musyawarah Nasional secretariat, would seek to translate the agenda into practical policies, actions and clear outcomes.

"The aim is to produce a more comprehensive and practical Blue Malaysia Agenda blueprint, with clear recommendations," he said during his winding-up speech at the 2026 Umno General Assembly.

Zahid said the agenda should not remain merely a political proposition, but must be translated into measures that directly benefit the people.

"The agenda cannot stop as a proposition. It must be translated into policies, actions and outcomes, and it must be grounded and people-centric.

"We will make it a promise in Barisan Nasional's official manifesto for the next election," he said.

Yesterday, Umno proposed the Blue Malaysia Agenda as part of its vision for the country ahead of the centenary of independence.

Zahid, in his policy speech, said the agenda would be pursued should Umno, BN and their political allies return to Putrajaya.

He said the agenda would focus on eight key initiatives aimed at creating wealth, developing human capital, widening ownership, improving wellbeing, strengthening resilience, caring for the people, restoring trust and protecting national interests.

Zahid then turned his attention to the upcoming Melaka state election, saying Umno would mobilise its machinery to support the state once the state assembly was dissolved.

"Whenever it is, subject to the consent and approval of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka, once the Melaka state assembly is dissolved, we will go to Melaka in droves to help the state," he said. - NST
