PETALING JAYA:
The Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has referred the investigation paper into Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Shuhaily Zain’s alleged assault of two policemen back to the police.

Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar said several aspects of the probe paper required further investigation, Astro Awani reported.

“(The AGC) has asked the police to take Shuhaily’s statement. Several other matters need to be reviewed, including CCTV footage,” he was quoted as saying.

The probe paper into the incident was referred to the AGC on Tuesday after police recorded statements from 25 witnesses, including policemen, AKPS personnel, and members of the public.

The case is being investigated by Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

The case came to public attention after CCTV footage allegedly showing Shuhaily confronting a person at KLIA Terminal 1 went viral.

AKPS later confirmed the footage was genuine and said the incident occurred while Shuhaily was inspecting preparations at KLIA ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.

Shuhaily had claimed that certain quarters were attempting to tarnish the reputation of AKPS and himself but said he would cooperate with the investigation and accept whatever decision made by the authorities. - FMT
