PETALING JAYA:
Employers in Johor have been urged to allow their staff to clock in from home or work flexible hours following the decision to extend school closures due to the haze.

Johor Umno Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros said the school closures until Oct 16 was justified but it also put parents in a dilemma. “They are required to go to office, while their children remain at home unsupervised, while their commute to work also exposes them to health risks,” he said.

Azleen said that the Covid-19 pandemic proved that many sectors remained productive despite implementing work-from-home policies. A similar approach should be adopted in the current situation.

Earlier today, the state government said schools and other educational institutions in Johor would remain closed for five more days from Monday due to the haze and deteriorating air quality across the state.

Unhealthy air pollution readings were recorded today in Pasir Gudang, Larkin, Tangkak, Segamat, Kota Tinggi, Pengerang, Batu Pahat and Kluang. - FMT
