Federal police say the officers will investigate whether the Malaysians have ties to local or international drug syndicates.

Bukit Aman narcotics criminal investigation department director Hussein Omar Khan said the officers would investigate whether the Malaysians have ties to local or international drug syndicates.
He said Japanese authorities are also investigating the source of the drugs and identifying other syndicate members, Harian Metro reported.
The five Malaysians were arrested on Saturday after Japanese authorities found the cocaine concealed beneath their shoe insoles. They are believed to have brought the drugs from KLIA.
Each suspect concealed about 1kg of cocaine, with 500g hidden beneath the insole of each shoe.
One of the five suspects claimed he was offered RM8,000 through the Telegram messaging app to transport drugs overseas, and was given a pair of shoes to conceal the narcotics. - FMT
