PETALING JAYA: Four areas recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 8am on Saturday (Oct 3), up from one area at the same time on Friday, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
In Sarawak, Sri Aman recorded the highest reading nationwide at 151, followed by IPD Serian (123).
Outside Sarawak, two areas in Johor recorded unhealthy readings - Pasir Gudang (147) and Larkin (110).
Among the areas with the highest moderate readings were Bintulu in Sarawak (92), Samarahan in Sarawak (91), Kuching in Sarawak (89), Cheras in WP Kuala Lumpur (86) and Tawau in Sabah (83).
Batu Muda in WP Kuala Lumpur (81), Batu Pahat in Johor (81), Pengerang in Johor (81), Kapit in Sarawak (81), Nilai in Negeri Sembilan (80) and Sibu in Sarawak (80) also recorded elevated moderate readings.
Meanwhile, 61 areas around the country recorded API readings at the moderate level, while two areas recorded good readings - Taiping in Perak (48) and Temerloh in Pahang (42).
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide. - Star
