Haze delays Loke flight to Johor for two hours

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Transport Minister Anthony Loke had to remain on board an aircraft at Kuala Lumpur International Airport for two hours before it could take off for Senai, as poor visibility caused by haze disrupted operations at the Johor airport.

Loke said he boarded the aircraft at 8am after leaving for KLIA at 7.15am, but had to remain on board for about two hours before the flight could depart for Johor.

"I boarded at 8am, but we had to wait in the plane for two hours before we could take off to Senai because of poor visibility," he said.

Loke was heading to Johor to attend an event at the Port of Tanjung Pelepas.

Visibility at Senai was reported at 1.9km early today, with mist and high humidity also recorded.

Loke said the delay was weather-related and was not caused by any technical or operational problem involving the aircraft.

The delay came as haze blanketed parts of Johor, reducing visibility around Senai and affecting flight operations.
