KUALA LUMPUR: Jaya Grocer said its Instagram account had been compromised, warning that posts offering gold bars, iPhones and other prizes were not authorised by the supermarket chain.
The posts, promoting an "Anniversary Promo" and directing users to Telegram, were not part of any promotion run by the company, it said in a social media post.
"Our Instagram account has been compromised. The 'Anniversary Promo' posts offering gold bars, iPhones, and other prizes with a link to Telegram were not posted by us."
"Please do not click any links, message the Telegram account, or make any payments."
Jaya Grocer said it was working to regain control of the account and would provide updates.
It also urged anyone who had responded to the posts to contact their bank immediately and report the incident to police.
Jaya Grocer is a supermarket chain selling fresh produce, groceries and household goods. - NST
