The southern state accounts for eight of the 23 unhealthy API readings nationwide, with Batu Pahat recording the country’s highest reading at 192.

The other affected areas in Johor were Kluang (170), Segamat (169), Larkin (166), Tangkak (166), Pasir Gudang (165), Kota Tinggi (156) and Pengerang (155).
Negeri Sembilan recorded two unhealthy readings, with Nilai at 163 and Seremban at 160.
Three areas in Melaka also had unhealthy readings: Bandaraya Melaka at 157, Bukit Rambai at 151 and Alor Gajah at 132.
Pahang had four affected areas: Balok Baru Kuantan (154), Rompin (153), Indera Mahkota Kuantan (153) and Jerantut (109).
Putrajaya recorded an unhealthy reading of 153, while Johan Setia in Selangor recorded 107.
Two areas in Kuala Lumpur were also in the unhealthy category, with Cheras recording 152 and Batu Muda, 151.
Two areas in Terengganu also recorded unhealthy readings, with Kemaman at 152 and Paka at 129.
Twenty-three areas nationwide had unhealthy readings, while 39 recorded moderate readings and six had good readings. No areas recorded readings in the very unhealthy or hazardous category.
API readings of between zero and 50 are categorised as good, 51 to 100 as moderate, 101 to 200 as unhealthy, 201 to 300 as very unhealthy, and 301 and above as hazardous. - FMT
