The man and his mother, who was also arrested, will be investigated for alleged offences under Selangor's shariah law.

Selangor Islamic religious department (Jais) director Shahzihan Ahmad said the man and his mother were arrested by the federal territories Islamic religious department (Jawi) in Kuala Lumpur.
He also said Jais was expected to summon at least 14 other individuals to assist in its investigation.
“The two suspects are being investigated by Jais under Sections 4 and 10 of the Syariah Criminal Offences (Selangor) Enactment 1995,” he said in a statement.
Section 4 covers worship or acts of reverence contrary to Islamic law, while Section 10 covers insulting or bringing into contempt the religion of Islam.
Shahzihan urged the public to give the authorities the space and time to complete their investigations, adding that Jais would act in accordance with its jurisdiction, the law and the facts of the case.

It was previously reported that the state Islamic religious authorities and the police were coordinating their response following the circulation of several videos allegedly showing a Muslim participating in non-Islamic religious rituals.
