Sleuth netizens demand CIMB reprimand BYD Seal staff in accident which kills 5-year-old girl

NOT only was his name flashed across the Threads platform – as well as other social media networks – his employer and even his immediate family members were inadvertently dragged into the ordeal purportedly to squeeze a confession from hm that his reckless driving was responsible for the death of pre-schooler Asiah Ahmad Syahir.

Far from leaving the matter the matter to cops who have identified him as the black BYD Seal driver involved in a six-vehicle crash that tragically killed the five-year-old girl on Jalan Kuching on Saturday (Oct 10), sleuth netizens have even threatened a boycott of the private hospital in which the 24-year-old was admitted with a concussion.

Or even the driver’s residence as one passer-by managed to snap from his electric vehicle (EV).

The intense uproar was due to allegations that the driver did not even has the courtesy to come down from his car to see the “devastation that he has caused” – or at least offered to take the seriously injured girl to the hospital – but continued to drive away from the accident scene.

Back to the innocent employer, the late Asiah’s aunt has called on CIMB Malaysia to look into reprimanding the driver who is believed to be an assistant sales manager at the bank.

“His car was involved in the incident that took my five-year-old niece’s life yesterday 1002026 @ JALAN KUCHING 3:45PM [sic],” penned Syazana MZ (@syazanamzww) in a post which fetched 35.7K likes, 1.9K comments, 12.1K re-posts and 4.7K shares at the time of writing.

“Please take this matter seriously and ensure he takes responsibility for what happened. We want justice for our little girl! RAEVEN VLV1129 BLACK BYD SEAL, MANA YOU LARI?! [sic]”

Cops are investigating

This clarion call which was further provoked by the fact that the driver’s so-called “sand contractor” father was so prompt in lodging a police report on the son’s behalf with a lawyer by his side has received wide support with one travel bug declaring that his wife who works in CIMB “will help to report direct to HR (human resources department)”.

Another went to the extent of tracing his office to “CIMB Branch TTDI (Taman Tun Dr Ismail)”.

One fuming netizen contended that if the driver were to escape the long arms of the law, “then there’s really something seriously wrong with our country”.

“Whose son is this? Who’s the tycoon who’s providing through coverage?” he lamented.

Alas, it did not take long before a so-called “Justice for Asiah” rally is mobilised by grieving netizens – a gesture which will likely trigger more cyberspace uproar.

As it is, preliminary investigations revealed that the incident occurred at 3.44pm amid slow-moving traffic when a Perodua Bezza driven by the victim’s father was believed to have been struck from behind by a BYD Seal, according to Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa.

“The collision also involved a motorcycle before the Perodua Bezza which allegedly spun into the right lane and struck three other vehicles, namely a Nissan Almera, a Toyota Alphard and a Perodua MyVi,” he pointed out in a statement.

“As a result of the accident, the child who was seated in the rear passenger seat sustained severe head injuries and was later pronounced dead at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).”

The victim’s 30-year-old father who is believed to be heading home to Sungai Penchala to perform his duty as a mosque bilal for the Asar prayers suffered an injury to his right hand while a 33-year-old motorcyclist sustained a head injury with both receiving treatment at HKL.

The suspect is currently under police investigation with the case being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

If convicted, he could be subject to minimum five years and a maximum of 10 years imprisonment and a fine between RM20,000 and RM50,000. –  Focus Malaysia
