SUNGAI PETANI: A 23-year-old Myanmar national died in a drunken fight involving several of his fellow countrymen near the hostel of a factory here last night.
Kuala Muda police chief Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the victim was found unconscious and covered in blood. “He is believed to have been stabbed and beaten on the head.”
Another Myanmar man, aged 29, was injured in the waist and head.
Azharuddin said the brawl was believed to be a result of intoxication as they were drinking together before it occurred.
“The injured victim is believed to have worked at the factory for only a year. He is currently receiving treatment at Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital here and is in stable condition.”
Police arrested six Myanmar men in their 20s and 40s who are believed to have been involved in the fight. They have been remanded for seven days for further investigation. Four others are being sought. - FMT
