SHAH ALAM, April 1 — Selangor will not dissolve its legislative assembly even if Parliament is dissolved this year for the next general election, Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said today.
He said as the state government’s mandate would only end in 2013, he would only decide whether to dissolve the assembly after March 2012.
“There is talk that the federal government is considering dissolving Parliament earlier to pave the way for the 13th general election,” he told a news conference after the state assembly adjourned sine die today.
He said he would not follow the election schedule of the federal government because states were allowed to determine when to dissolve their legislative assemblies as was the case in Sarawak.
