Latheefa Koya and Arfa'eza Aziz slug it out on social media over the proposed change in Menteri Besar.
Things got catty between Latheefa Koya and Arfa’eza Abdul Aziz when the two ditched all form of decorum in a furious war of words on whether Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim should go or remain in his post.
PKR central leadership council member Latheefa posted a series of stinging remarks about Khalid on Facebook, criticising his lack of pro-people policies even to the point of calling him “stingy” and saying “You all deserve to have Umno rule you.”
Press secretary to the Selangor Menteri Besar, Arfa’eza retaliated, “Ask that lawyer ‘datang bulan’ how much Selangor contributed to her NGO?” referring to Latheefa and the NGO, Lawyers for Liberty that she helped co-found and that Khalid had allocated funds for.
In her retort, Latheefa dared Arfa’eza to state how much Khalid had given the NGO as well as how much Arfa’eza herself was being paid.
Latheefa also made references to Khalid’s out of court settlement with Bank Islam, suggesting the deal was shrouded in secrecy.
“When a person has a RM66 million headache, he can cut a deal in many ways. He could have been declared bankrupt, but he made his deal. He was told politely to leave – he fought back shamelessly,” Latheefa posted.
The strife over the proposed MB change has widened with PAS taking a hardline wanting Khalid to stay and finish his second term.
PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim on the other hand, is proposing his wife Dr Wan Azizah, as Khalid’s replacement after Hari Raya.
Anwar announced Wednesday that all parties within Pakatan Rakyat had agreed to a change in MB.
However days later PAS leaders – from spiritual adviser Nik Aziz Nik Mat to party president Hadi Awang and their ulama council and youth wing – countered that statement, saying they did not agree.
Only deputy president Mohamad Sabu is holding out, saying the matter will be decided on August 10, or sooner by the party’s central committee.
