MAS may sell stake to outside investors

A new company will takeover the existing Malaysia Airlines business and its reduced staff.

KUALA LUMPUR: In its attempt to save the struggling company, MAS will slash unprofitable routes and consider strategic stake sales to outside investors.

Azman Mokhtar, head of Khazanah Nasional, said: “A sell-down, or partial sell-down of Khazanah’s stake to appropriate strategic buyers from the private sector will be considered” in the future.

MAS will also move its headquarters and principal operations to KLIA.

Khazanah said the overhaul includes the establishment of a new company that will takeover the existing Malaysia Airlines business and its reduced staff.
