After previously answering 13 questions related to his leadership, Najib Razak took sometime off yesterday to address two questions related to Tun Mahathir Mohamad's allegations and GST.
Writing in his blog, regarding Tun Mahathir's allegations, he stated that many accusations against him were not fair and confusing.
One of the issues that he addressed was the RM24 million worth ring involving his wife, Rosmah which was raised by Tun Mahathir. Najib stressed that it is an 'evil hoax' and even the jewwllery company has verified it as false news.
Having said that, he is quite disappointed that even people like Tun Mahathir are involved in spreading rumors to the public.
Rude Najib implies Dr M a quack economist & rumor monger
Najib also repeated his pledge that he will not step down until the end of his term and the main reason he used to defend his stand is that this is a valid mandate which was given to him by the people and party.
Regarding GST, besides defending the tax by stating that it will help to strengthen the economy, Najib repeated his argument that more than 160 countries have been implementing this tax.
Dr M
He said " Tun Mahathir is against GST although all the credible economic experts believe that our basic tax structure is in the right place to be implemented. The revenue will be used for people's welfare and even the suggestion to implement the tax was suggested during his leadership time.
In other words, through this argument, Najib is trying to state that there is no way the former Prime Minister, who was just a doctor, can be 'more intelligent' than the economic experts.
Just as Najib uses his blog to rebut and answer criticism and questions thrown at him, Tun Mahathir also uses his blog, Chedet.com for the same purpose.
Since the day he withdrew his support for the Prime Minister and urged him to resign for the sake of UMNOand BN's future, Tun Mahathir has launched attacks against Najib several times through his blog.
Najib, on the other hand, although he has the mainstream media on his side, recently he has been using the same medium as Tun Mahathir to present his rebuttals to allegations put forward by Tun Mahathir.
In this context, both Najib and Tun Mahathir are warring with each other through their respective blogs.
Dr M will retaliate even more harshly
Just like the 13 issues which Najib addressed earlier and which Tun Mahathir labelled as 'not answering anything', his recent rebuttals which are attacking and laced with sarcasm will definitely invite more counter attacks from the former Prime Minister who led Malaysia for 22 years.
The 'war' sessions between Najib and Tun Mahathir will continue and become even more heated with time.
When will this end? Will this 'warring' through the blogs continue until the 14th general election?
While Tun Mahathir has stated his readiness to debate openly with Najib, is not it wise for Najib to take up the challenge?
PM Najib
Writing and presenting answers in his blog does not add value or improve people's support for Najib because until Najib has tbe courage to debate with Tun Mahathir, he would be considered a 'coward' because of his inability to defend his arguments.
This is different with Tun Mahathir since he does not get coverage from the mainstream media, writing in a blog allows him to reach the people who have been waiting for his explanations.
Debate with Tun Mahathir maybe the best advice that Lim Kok Wing should whisper to Najib. - http://shahbudindotcom.blogspot.com/
