Fadzil Noor's son get THUMPING APPLAUSE to start 'new party'

Son of former PAS president Fadzil Noor, Faiz Fadzil received a thunderous applause last night when he asked if the audience wanted a new party to replace PAS.

“Do you still want PAS? If not, let’s form a new party," he said to a rousing response.

Following this, Faiz said he will "bring the applause" to the leader of PAS’ progressive faction, Mohamad Sabu as input to help them decide on the next steps to take.

“If you want a new party, we will discuss it. I will convey this applause tonight to Mohamad,” he said, chuckling.

Faiz admitted Pakatan Rakyat's problems was rooted in the recent muktamar.

“I don’t deny the issue of severing ties with the DAP was brought forward by PAS.

"(Also), we have the (Pakatan) presidents’ council but it did not work as how it was supposed to, and this had led to the split in Pakatan," he said.

One of the major obstacles in Pakatan over the past months was getting PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to attend its leadership council to obtain consensus on various issues, in particular Kelantan's hudud initiatives.

Pakatan dead, opposition not

Although Pakatan has been declared dead by many, Faiz said the opposition coalition was still alive and he also believes that a new coalition will be formed soon.

He was speaking at the ceramah 'What now after PAS muktamar' at the Chinese Assembly Hall in Negeri Sembilan.

Also present were DAP Youth chief Teo Kok Seong, PKR leader Low Chee Chong and political analyst Lim Hong Seang.

PAS however remains indignant that it is still with Pakatan, while DAP said the opposition coalition was had ended following a motion during the PAS muktamar for the Islamist party to sever ties with DAP.

During the muktamar Hadi also announced that PAS will continue to work with Pakatan only selectively, on common goals that did not include its Islamic agenda such as hudud.

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, on the other hand, insisted that Pakatan was not dead, telling the media to refer to party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail's statement on the matter.

Wan Azizah had said that PKR would spearhead efforts to rebuild an opposition coalition following Pakatan uncertain situation.
