Former Special Branch deputy director Datuk Abdul Hamid Bador will be served with a show-cause letter seeking an explanation on his action of issuing statements to the media pertaining to his recent transfer, said Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.
He said that as a police officer, Hamid was bound by the rules of the police force and could not arbitrarily issue statements to the media.
Khalid said the show-cause letter notice would give Hamid a chance to explain himself before any disciplinary action was taken against him.
“I have met and talked with him at length, but I do not want to comment about what we discussed. I believe he acted so out of frustration.
"During the meeting, I also reminded him that he had broken the police's code of conduct, because the police have rules on who can speak to the media. So we have to take disciplinary action," he told said after attending the National Warrior's service medal presentation in Kuala Lumpur today.
Khalid was asked to comment on Hamid's action of making press statements recently about a number of matters, including his transfer to the Prime Minister's Department. – Bernama
