NAJIB SYCOPHANT SHOWS HIS 'CALIBRE': No urine smell at Red Shirts rally unlike Bersih 4 - Rahman Dahlan
After being criticised for pushing a cleaning bill onto the organiser of the Bersih 4 rally more than two weeks ago, Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan took to Twitter to say that while there was rubbish from yesterday's red shirt rally, there was no "bad urine smell".
The minister also said that he has asked Alam Flora to give him the costing for the leftover rubbish, adding that the bill will then be sent to the organisers of the "red shirt" rally.
"Yes, there was rubbish. But unlike Bersih demo, this time the bad smell of urine was not evident.
"I just spoke to Alam Flora to give me the cost. They are finalising the figure. The bill will be sent to the Red demo organisers," Rahman posted on Twitter.
He added that he is taking the same approach as he did with the Bersih 4 rally, where he had waited until the costs had been calculated before announcing the figure to be billed to Bersih 2.0.
He also rebutted a report in an online portal, denying he had said that he was unsure about sending a clean-up bill to the "red shirt" organisers.
"I didn't say I was unsure whether to send clean up bill to the Red demo organisers. I said we wait until it's over first," he tweeted.
Bersih 2.0 was given a bill for RM64,955 by Kuala Lumpur City Hall as clean-up costs for the overnight Bersih 4 rally held on August 29 and 30.
Rahman had warned that if the organiser refused to pay, he would consider dumping the rubbish in front of their office the next time they held a rally.
The minister and Bersih 2.0 chairperson Maria Chin Abdullah had earlier been at odds over the clean-up costs, with Maria saying Bersih 2.0 would challenge any clean-up order in court.
The civil society group had organised its own volunteers to collect rubbish during the 34-hour rally.
Following yesterday's rally, many Malaysians took to social media posting pictures of rubbish strewn all over Padang Merbok, where the rally-goers gathered, and asked if a clean-up bill will be issued to the organisers. - TMI
