Azmin: Everyone in Selangor happy except Noh Omar

Azmin says Noh Omar must be ignorant regarding the economic performance in Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has denied allegations by the state’s Umno liaison chief Noh Omar that Selangor government created unemployment by not doing enough to attract foreign direct investment (FDI).

Describing Noh as “ignorant”, Azmin said the former was clearly not aware of Selangor’s current economic performance.

“Everyone is happy except for Noh Omar. He must be ignorant about the economic performance in Selangor.

“You look at the total investment, total projects that have been approved and the reserves that we have. There is no way we can secure that amount of reserves if the state government was not able to run the state efficiently,” Azmin said when met by reporters outside the Dewan Rakyat building here today.

It was recently reported that Noh had criticised the Selangor state government for not doing enough to attract FDI.

Noh claimed that this had created unemployment in the state.

The former Umno minister also said that the Selangor government should be ashamed for falling behind Malacca in the recent FDI statistics by Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) in November 2015.

“We run (the state government) on the principles of accountability and transparency. Look at what happened in Putrajaya.

“But thank God we in Selangor are able to work as a team to ensure we will deliver to the people,” the PKR’s Gombak MP added.
