The decision not to prosecute Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has received international media coverage, noted a pro-Umno portal.
Therefore, MyKMU.net asked if the Saudi royal family, which is said to have donated the RM2.6 billion to the prime minister, would remain silent if Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali had spun a web of deceit.
The portal was referring to Apandi's statement that Najib had returned RM2.03 billion of the sum to the royal family in August 2013, two months after the 13th general election.
The sum was transferred in two batches ahead of the national polls.
"If this is a lie, it is certain we will hear news of a denial (from the Saudi royal family) later.
"If there is no denial then the claim that the money was political donation from the Saudi royal family is true," said the portal.
MyKMU.net said it would be an impossible scenario for the Saudi royal family to remain quiet if implicated in a fraudulent claim.
This morning, Apandi said he was satisfied based on evidence from witnesses and supporting documents submitted by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) that the original sum transferred between March 22 and April 10, 2013 was a "personal donation from the Saudi royal family given to him (Najib) without any consideration".
"MACC in their investigation, personally met and recorded statements from witnesses including the donor which confirmed the donation was given to PM personally.
"Evidence obtained from the investigation does not show the donation was given as an inducement or reward for doing or forbearing to do anything in relation to his capacity as prime minister," he told a press conference in Putrajaya. -Mkini
