Will the People’s Congress be another Declaration of Independence?

Single Malt: Today's gathering is significant irrespective of the outcome. This will be the birth of people's power. How long can and will the government fight against the people? History has always proven that evil cannot triumph over the good.
Mushiro: The People's Congress today is a concerted effort to throw out a corrupted regime. It has happened in other countries and it is hoped that this will happen here too. Najib Abdul Razak has grossly crossed the line and he is now allegedly misusing power and money to stay in power.
888: The word ‘people’s’ congress, is this the appropriate description? The speakers only have one common agenda which is public, but each has different agendas which as yet are unspoken, but people can judge. I don’t trust old fox a bit.
Sinan Belawan: Declaration signatories Ambiga Sreenevasan, Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the motley crew of organisers are misleading all Malaysians by calling this gathering a ‘People’s Congress’ as there has been no consultation with Malaysians throughout the country on the gathering and proposed outcome.
It is highly unethical to name the statement initially signed by about 50 people - none from Sabah/Sarawak - as a Citizens’ Declaration.
Days Are Numbered: Another fruitless exercise to fool themselves into thinking they can unseat Najib. Foolish people.

Yawkwai: 'Days Are Numbered', I have to agree with you on this. Ah Jib and gang are enjoying their cup of tea while watching and laughing away.
Fogbom: Sinan Belawan, you are confused. I suppose, had you been there in 1776, you would have criticised Thomas Jefferson for his Declaration of Independence, claiming that it was "only signed by about 50 people?" You are about to be swept away by historic forces that are growing larger by the day! Stop vomiting up rubbish to earn a few ringgit from the grand chief crook who runs Malaysia, for now. He is on his way out.
Days are numbered, the US Declaration of Independence includes these immortal words: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
“That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
The Citizens’ Declaration is a powerful statement of intent. If the US, from that Declaration, could become the most powerful, nation in history, then today is also a historic day for Malaysia. You, Days are numbered, and Yawkwai, are now irrelevant.
Wong Fei Hoong: After getting rid of Najib, whats next? The message from this gathering should be to call a general election immediately and let the people decide who will form the next government, no two ways about it. We don't want a situation like jumping out from frying pan to a fire. Otherwise this gathering is only to help Umno to resolve its problems. A big no-no.
Over50ABU: All for self political survival, nothing for the rakyat. The rakyat will still be fighting for what we really want even with a change of PM, the corruption and rot will still be there. Rubbish to the core.
Melayu: Let's start with something instead of just keeping quiet.

Your parents' generosity in opening their place to resident writers and creators is highly commendable. Your parents and you belong to that special group of Malaysians who would have made Malaysia a great nation given the power and resources but for the obstacles, the corrupting forces and everything that instead have made Malaysia a backwaters nation instead of the pinnacle nation it can be.
Be comforted you are on the winning side of history. People like you and your parents are the sort of human beings that made it impossible for tyrants to get their way and succeed. Hold your head high for your country, the uncorrupted nation, extols you and your family. Bravo.
Anonymous #88188: Her playful act is harmless, silent and non-defaming at all, whereas Ali Tinju's speech and actions are seditious and endangering public harmony and national integrity. However, the people see obviously total differences in the reactions from authorities. What a tremendous shame on this regime.
