KUCHING: Addi Asyraaf, 6, who has been suffering from Allagile Syndrome, a life-threatening genetic disorder, finally got his wish to meet up with Prime Minister Najib Razak today.
Najib paid a vist to the boy at his home in Kampung Bintawa at about 3.40pm, soon after arriving here from Kuala Lumpur with his wife, Rosmah Mansor, to make the boy’s wish come true.
The easy-going boy was seen sitting on Najib’s lap while talking and laughing together with Rosmah. When asked by his family member to kiss Najib on the cheek, Addi did so while smiling widely.
Addi’s request to meet with his number idol has been spreading all over social media since last week.
His mother, Zurina Jamil, 37, said someone who suffers from Allagile Syndrome can expect a life expectancy of six years.
Najib’s presence had made Addi very happy, she said. He had been waiting for the moment to come true since he was four years old.
“When Addi found out that the PM will be visiting today, he started waiting at the window and every time he heard the sound of siren, he will ask if it’s the PM.
“Today, he (Addi) has been smiling the whole day. He looks so happy. PM and wife hugged my boy earlier and Addi even got to kiss Datuk Seri Najib,” she told reporters at her house.
Addi was diagnosed with the disorder when he was three years old.
Najib’s visit to Kampung Bintawa was celebrated by local residents who gathered around Addi’s house.
Addi’s father, Mohamad Missbahuddin, 37, said some of his neighbours offered to buy the tea cups used by Najib and Rosmah as souvenirs, and one of them eventually paid RM25 for the cups.
