DAP blasts Adenan's 'Umno-like' racial message

S'WAK POLLS DAP has slammed Chief Minister Adenan Satem for playing up racial issues in his speeches.
Incumbent Piasau assemblyperson Alan Ling said if Adenan was a true chief minister for all, he would not direct specific messages to the Chinese and bumiputera voters.
"He should not say Umno minded things… racism has entered his mind," Ling said at a press conference in Miri today.
He was referring to remarks Adenan made urging the Chinese community to choose whether they want to be in the state government or be with DAP.
Adenan, in a speech in Miri yesterday, also urged bumiputera voters to stay united, so as to ensure BN's victory should Chinese votes in the city's three urban seats be split.
'Reject tycoons'
Meanwhile Ling also called on voters to reject the involvement of tycoons in politics.
"They are already rich, now they want power," he said.
He added this would lead to conflicts of interest as the tycoons would want to make sure their businesses were unaffected.

He said it was best to reject them now, before they got elected as it may be too late to push them out then.
There is currently one businessman contesting in Miri, that is BN direct candidate for Pujut, Hii King Chiong.
Hii is taking on DAP's Dr Ting Tiong Choon, independent incumbent Fong Pau Teck and PAS man Jofrie Jaraiee in a four way contest.
However Hii and Ting are regarded as frontrunners in this race. -Mkini
