This is from the Foreign Policy magazine.

Erdogan’s Purge Is a Sectarian War

Erdogan and Gulen came apart because impossible to reconcile rival interpretations of Islam

anti-Ataturk camp wants to remake Turkey into an Islamic state

supported by less educated majority of population

until 2002 firmly kept under control by Turkish officer corps

unifying “Kemalist” ideology was strictly secular

populist Islamists, led by thinly educated ex-soccer player Recep Tayyip Erdogan

and university-educated followers of Fethullah Gulen, a religious entrepreneur

Erdogan’s talent was to rally masses by invoking Muslim identity

in 1999, Erdogan in prison after being convicted for inciting religious hatred.

Gulen’s formula was Islamic practices propagated gradually

Gulen justified such concealment with his own interpretation of taqiyah.

Gulen’s Islam allows the dishonesty of systematic deception (taqiyah)

for Erdogan Islam is something else : Sunni and only religion entitled to exist

Its conquest of the planet must be advanced by all means possible

Erdogan supported the ISIS as long as he could

Gulenists in 2013 brought amply justified corruption charges vs Erdogan

no other explanation for billions of dollars accumulated by Erdogan’s family

Erdogan struck back by denouncing Gulenists

shutting down Gulen-affiliated banks, businesses, media including Zaman

Ataturk was convinced that Islam in any form would be the ruin of the Turks.

My comments :  I think the time has come for Muslims to ask themselves 'Are we really Muslims?"

Who says so? The sect that you happened to be born into? Ok fine.

Then what about the other sects? They also say they are the "correct" Muslims.

The bigger question is "Dont you want to know if indeed you are Muslim?" What if you are not?

How can you go about finding out if you are real Muslims? By asking your guru inside your own sect? But he will only give you a sectarian answer.

Is there a really reliable and independent Islamic source that is accepted by ALL THE SECTS which you can refer to that can give you  a better answer  than your sect ?

Isnt the Quran a really reliable and independent Islamic source for ALL Muslims?

What does the Quran say about breaking up into sects or SHIAH. In the Quran 'SHIAH' refers to the sects or different groups.

Listen to what the Quran says about sects or SHIAH :

6:159  "Those who divide themselves into sects (SHIAH) do not belong with you. Their judgment rests with Allah, then He will inform them of everything they had done.

Please go and read these verses in the arabic Quran by yourselves. It says that if people divide  into sects (shiah) then they do not belong with you  (Rasul too).    People who divide into sects cannot claim to be Muslim. This is what the Quran says. Go and read for yourselves.

Here is another reference :

6:65  "Say, "He is certainly able to pour upon you retribution from above you, or from beneath your feet. Or He can divide you into sects (SHIAH) and have you taste each others' VIOLENCE. Note how we explain the revelations, that they may understand."

This verse has been proven again and again.  This is what is happening in Turkey now between Erdogan and Fethullah Gulen. This is what has been happening in "Islam" among the various sects. They have all been tasting each other's violence because they broke up into sects.

The common factor that can unite Muslims (and make them civilised human beings like me) is the Quran.

The sects divide Muslims and only create violence because the sects are not a common factor. The sects are the uncommon factor among Muslims which only divide them.

Akhir kalam :  So for how many more centuries do you wish to be stupid?  For how many more centuries do you wish to suffer the violence of the sects?

Or will you use whatever little brains that you have and embrace the single unifying message of the Quran. And become a Muslim in the process.
