Nissan recalls vehicles over Takata airbag, back door stay

Owners affected are advised to call the nearest TCEAS outlet for an appointment.

KUALA LUMPUR: Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) and Tan Chong Ekspres Auto Servis Centre (TCEAS) have recalled certain models of Nissan vehicles to replace the Takata Airbags Inflator and Back Door Stay.
In a statement, ETCM said approximately 110,945 units of Nissan vehicles were involved in the Takata Airbags Inflator replacement exercise while approximately 22,173 units would undergo a change of the ‘Back Door Stay field.’
Among the affected models include the Navara, Latio, Grand Livina, X-Gear, X-Trail, Teana, Liberty, Serena S-Hybrid C26 and NV200 M20.
The Nissan vehicles distributor in Malaysia said affected customers would be notified directly and by letter.
Upon receiving the letter, they are advised to call the nearest TCEAS outlet for an appointment.
Customers may also call the Nissan Customer Care Centre at the Toll-Free line: 1800-88-3838 for further clarification or visit www.nissan.com.my (click on ‘Owners’ tab followed by ‘Recall Campaign’) to find out if their Nissan vehicle is involved in this campaign.
