NO AMOUNT OF DISHONESTY SHOCKS UMNO: IT’S NOTHING NEW – ANNUAR MUSA DISMISSES HUSNI’S LOADED COMMENTS ON 1MDB

There is nothing new in the budget speech by former second finance minister and Tambun MP Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah and his torrent of questions regarding controversial government investment arm 1MDB, says Umno.
“There is nothing new brought up by Husni.
“Indeed the questions he asked were based on concerns brought up by the assumptions of certain parties, and he only wanted to know what the government would do if those came true,” said party information chief Annuar Musa in a statement today.
He said the government will take note of the speech and questions asked, and that the authorities have no issues with explaining and clarifying the matter yet again.
Indeed, Annuar noted that Husni  himself had answered a lot of thequestions he now asked, when he was the second finance minister.
The Umno information chief recalled that Husni once said of 1MDB as “it was formed with the clear purpose of investing and developing long-term projects with strategic value to the economy with the aim of generating funds and future success”.
However, Annuar added that all must respect Husni’s role as a parliamentarian, if it is done with the proper intent and at the proper place and pay attention to what he said and the issues that he brought up.
“It is his responsibility as an MP to voice out anything within the ambit of performing his duties as an elected representative.”
Annuar said the government should take it all in stride and view the concerns positively as 1MDB is a matter that the government views seriously, as it works to address weaknesses in the sovereign firm.
On Monday, the former minister asked pointed questions about 1MDB in his budget speech, saying that he, too, was kept in the dark about a lot of things pertaining to the fund when he was in the cabinet.
Yesterday, the opposition highlighted Husni’s speech as proof that questionable things abound when it came to 1MDB, as even a minister was not briefed on the matter.
