Toddler trapped in car for 30 minutes

Child is believed to have been trapped when the automatic car key system of the Perodua Alza failed.

SHAH ALAM: A one-year-old boy was trapped in his mother’s car for about half an hour in Taman Sri Muda here today.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said they were alerted at 12.10pm today.

“The child had been locked in the Perodua Alza car for almost 15 minutes before his mother contacted the department,” he said in a statement.

He said the victim was believed to have been trapped when the automatic car key system failed.

“The mother only realised the doors were jammed when she could not open the driver’s door after placing her son in the back seat,” he said.

Sani said they used special equipment and rescued the child within five minutes. -FMT
