Gelang Patah MCA boss weeps at CNY do

What was supposed to be a boisterous and festive Chinese New Year year event at Gelang Patah yesterday took a sombre turn yesterday when local MCA division head Jason Teoh (on shouldersabove) broke into tears on stage.
Some newspapers speculated that Teoh broke down because he expected MCA's top leadership to show up and announce his candidacy for the upcoming general election.
According to China Press, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai and his deputy Wee Ka Siong were on buntings and banners promoting the event. Both, however, did not turn up.
During his speech, Teoh said the Gelang Patah constituency had been neglected in recent years and treated like a step-child.
He said federal government funding for the constituency, which voted in DAP strongman Lim Kit Siang (below) in 2013, had been cut and Gelang Patah's MCA division had to scrounge in order to serve the public.

At one point, Teoh reportedly raised his voice in urging Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and Liow to allocate more resources if they were serious about winning back Gelang Patah.
Teoh was widely tipped to be BN's candidate for Gelang Patah in 2013 but he was replaced by then Johor menteri besar Abdul Ghani Othman at the last minute.
Meanwhile, The Malaysian Insight reports that Teoh shed tears at the event yesterday because he was sad that Gelang Patah was being neglected.
Teoh also denied allegations that he expected Liow to announce his candidacy at the event.- Mkini
