Selangor police will apply for an arrest warrant against Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos following his latest disappearance.
In a statement, state CID chief Fadzil Ahmat said police are probing Jamal over nine cases in total, including the three he was charged with in a hospital last Friday.
"The police have given sufficient time for DSJ (Jamal) to cooperate with investigations and procedures, but he has failed to respond accordingly. In fact, he has evaded (cooperation) via his viral statements.
"Therefore, arrest warrant based on several cases involving him will be applied and we will step up efforts to track him down," said Fadzil.
Earlier today, Jamal failed to present himself at the Ampang Jaya district police headquarters due to concerns that he would be arrested.
He, however, later released a video recorded in an oil palm estate, in which he accused the current government of victimising him – saying that he is being treated as a criminal and terrorist, although he is neither.
Jamal also claimed that the MACC and the police had raided his home, his mother's home, his office, as well as other places linked to him, under pressure from the Pakatan Harapan government.
This is the red shirts leader's second vanishing act.
He had gone missing after being charged at the Ampang Puteri Hospital in Kuala Lumpur on May 25, over a protest where he smashed beer bottles in front of the state secretariat building in Shah Alam.
His bail was processed when he absconded.
The following day, he released an audio recording claiming that it was a misunderstanding.
The police are also investigating Jamal for a firearms offence. -Mkini
