FT lands director instructed to freeze DBKL land transactions

The Federal Territories Director of Lands and Mines Office Kuala Lumpur, Sharez Izuan Md Zaidi, says he has been instructed to freeze all transactions involving the transfer of land owned by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) since May 10.
He said this following a discussion with Chief Secretary to the Government, Ali Hamsa, who is also chairperson of the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Working Committee on the issue of DBKL’s land sales.
Yesterday, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok urged Ali Hamsa to intervene in the allegedly dubious sale of 64 lots of land in Kuala Lumpur, as only the Chief Secretary to the Government had the authority to issue directives to the Land Office not to approve any land deal.
She was also reported to have held a meeting with Kuala Lumpur Mayor, Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz and 10 MPs in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Prior to this, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng had lodged a report with the MACC on the sale of 64 lots of DBKL land between 2014 and 2018.
The report on the 171.7 hectares of land was handed over to the Federal Territory MACC on May 15.
