'Hope Fund' gets RM18.6m in 48 hours

Over RM18.6 million has been donated to Putrajaya's Hope Fund as of 3pm today.
This is more than double the amount collected yesterday, which was at RM7 million.
The amount was announced by the Ministry of Finance today.
Yesterday, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng pledged that the collection accumulated will be updated daily on the ministry's website and its social media platforms.
In a statement today, Lim thanked Malaysians for their contributions.
The Hope Fund was set up on Wednesday to facilitate a demand by Malaysians who wished to contribute to government efforts to reduce the national debt level.
Putrajaya said that federal debt and liabilities were over RM1 trillion.
The Star earlier reported that there are fake accounts posing as the Hope Fund or Tabung Harapan Malaysia.
The official Maybank account number for the fund is 5660 1062 6452. -Mkini
