#DeyyChallenge man takes parody videos in good humour

The man at the centre of the trending #DeyyChallenge craze is taking the parodies of his emotional video light-heartedly, saying that he was okay with them since it made others happy.
S Kanagarajah, a businessman who hails from what used to be the Seafield Estate where recent riots occurred, told reporters today that people took the video clip of him in a funny way instead of it being offensive.
"I did not receive any threats. So far, I see that the parodies people made are funny.
"If that makes them happy, then let them be happy," he said when met at the Shah Alam Courts Complex earlier today.
Kanagarajah was there for today's hearing of applications for a stay and an injunction against the relocation of the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple.
Asked about the video of him which went viral after it was taken earlier this week, the 43-year-old man said he unintentionally made the expression out of frustration.
"It (the expression in the video) happened after seeing and helping my fellow devotees who were attacked and covered in blood.
"We did not pick a fight with anyone, we were just praying inside the temple. So I was frustrated with what had happened."
Kanagarajah also stressed that the incident was nothing racial and dismissed all speculation suggesting so.
He added that the Indians and Malays were both victims of the incident.
"If you want to ask me now how I feel, maybe I can cry here thinking about what had happened.
"We did not start this fight, the person who started this is sitting in an air-conditioned room. (But) now we and our Malay friends have become the victims," he said.
Asked if he had feared repercussions over the video, Kanagarajah said he did not feel he had done anything wrong.
"Those who know me, they have no problems. They understand why I did it.
"And I also do not fear (repercussions) as I did not commit any crime. It was not like I was holding a knife or gun. I also didn't say anything. I was just being emotional." - Mkini
