Mat Hasan moots 'P Ramlee formula' for Umno-PAS GE15 seat sharing

Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan has jokingly mooted a solution on how PAS and Umno can divide seats in the 15th general election.
Speaking at a Rantau by-election ceramah in Felda Sendayan last night, Mohamad lightheartedly suggested that the two allies use a "P Ramlee formula".
"This is for you, this is for me, one for you, two for me," the Rantau candidate said to laughter from the 400-strong crowd.
"How many seats do you (PAS) want? Five? Take it. You take five, I take 20. This is for Negeri Sembilan. In Kelantan you take 20, I'll take five," Mohamad said.
He then stressed to the PAS leaders present that he was only joking.
Umno and PAS have traditionally vied for the same Malay majority seats prior to their joining forces last year.
The "formula" Mohamad is referring to is derived from a scene in the P Ramlee movie Nujum Pak Belalang, where two thieves work to divide the gold coins they had stolen from a palace.
They start by counting "one for you, one for me" but this devolves when one robber, who doesn't know how to count, starts spewing nonsense such as "eh apadah untuk kau, eh apadah untuk aku (what is this for you, what is this for me)".
Dividing seats equitably key to defeating BN
While laying out his "formula", Mohamad also said that PAS can take the seats that BN had lost to Pakatan Harapan because of split votes, such as Labu and Lenggeng.
Dividing seats equitably, he said, would be the key for BN and PAS to defeat Harapan in the next general election.
"What is important is that when we do this jigsaw puzzle, the ending is that we retake Malaysia from Harapan. That is all. What's so hard?" he said.
Mohamad also spoke lightheartedly about possibly contesting for a seat in Parliament in the next general election.
"I feel that in GE15, I won't contest in Rantau anymore, I feel that I will contest for Parliament.
"(But maybe) I will contest in Rantau and a parliamentary seat as well. Surely, when I get a new girlfriend, I won't forget my old folks," he said to cheers from the crowd. - Mkini
