Tok Mat didn’t solve your problems, Negeri rep tells voters

RANTAU: A Negeri Sembilan state assemblyman has questioned the extent to which Umno’s Mohamad Hasan improved the situation in Rantau during his tenure as menteri besar, saying there are many problems that he appeared unable to resolve.
Sri Tanjung representative M Ravi, who is also the deputy speaker of the state assembly, said the roads in Rantau are still poor. He added that the sewage system is “very bad” and highlighted a lack of doctors at government clinics.
“Two hundred to 300 people are there at any given point but they have to wait for three to four hours because the clinics are too small,” he told FMT after speaking to residents of Taman Angsamas here.
“I am not saying he did not do anything, but he did not implement much during his leadership.”
Ravi added that it was cocky of Mohamad, who was menteri besar for 15 years, to continue promising things he may not be able to deliver.
The deputy chairman of Negeri Sembilan PKR also claimed there were village leaders who never received grants when Mohamad was Rantau assemblyman, despite qualifying for assistance.
“So why do you want to go on the campaign trail and say ‘I have already done this and that’? Don’t say that, because you have not improved life for those in Rantau and you did not do this as menteri besar.
“Maybe you can say, ‘Once I get another chance, I will implement this and that. That is okay,” he added.
But he remained pessimistic that Mohamad will be able to do better than the current state administration.
He said over the past 10 months or so, Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun had fulfilled many of the things he promised to the people.
He gave the example of the state’s free bus service and the food bank programme to provide free food for the underprivileged.
“We were able to do things in 10 months that Tok Mat, in 15 years, could not. Who wouldn’t support whoever does it faster?”
Campaigning for the state seat of Rantau enters its fifth day today.
