3,788 Covid-19 cases, 14 deaths

 

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 3,788 Covid-19 cases and 14 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,640 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 377,980.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 408,713.

There are 29,227 active cases, with 328 patients being treated in intensive care and 161 needing respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 14 deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,506.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,265. This was followed by Sarawak (760), Kelantan (464), Kuala Lumpur (255), Penang (250), Johor (160), Negeri Sembilan (136), Kedah (136), Perak (118), Sabah (89), Melaka (55), Pahang (54), Terengganu (37), Perlis (5), Labuan (2) and Putrajaya (2).

The new cases today involved 3,786 local infections and two imported cases. Local cases comprised 3,476 Malaysians and 310 foreigners.

There were 42 cases from prisons today, namely from the Pagar Sri Lalang (16), Pagar Rimba (12), Pagar Siput Dua (9) and Tembok Pengkalan Chepa (5) clusters.

The 14 deaths today involved 13 Malaysians and one foreigner, aged between 33 and 97. All but one of them had existing medical conditions. - FMT
