"Nasi ganja" chopper probe over, investigation paper handed to AGC, says Perak police chief

IPOH: Investigations into the incident where a helicopter landed at the Ipoh Padang to pick up a "nasi ganja" order have been completed, says the Perak police chief.

Comm Datuk Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the investigation paper has been sent to the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC) for further action.

"We have taken at least five statements over the matter. The five persons include the owner of the helicopter and the shop owner.

“We leave it to the AGC for the next course of action,” he told reporters when met at the Stadium Indera Mulia vaccination centre here Sunday (Aug 1).

On July 23, the helicopter, which was only permitted to cross state borders for maintenance work, was seen picking up 36 packets of "nasi ganja" after it landed at Ipoh Padang.

Comm Mior Faridalathrash had said on July 28 that the case was being investigated under Section 16 of the Prevention and Control of the Infectious Diseases Act.

Separately, state Youth, Sports, Communication and Multimedia Committee chairman Khairul Shahril Mohamed said the Merdeka Day celebration would continue to be held under the new norms.

Khairul Shahril said several events would be held virtually, including singing, debate and colouring contests.

“This year, our Merdeka celebration will be held in the new normal and that includes having several competitions held virtually, such as singing, debate and colouring contests.

“We do plan to have a celebration where people could sing the national anthem in their houses while waving the Jalur Gemilang but that is still being discussed.

“We have seen many houses in the state putting up the Palestine flag as a symbol of solidarity for the country, so we hope that they would also put up our Jalur Gemilang as well,” he said, adding that about 10,000 Jalur Gemilang would be distributed for the upcoming Merdeka Day. - Star
