Bersatu, PAS won’t be in govt without Umno, Tuan Ibrahim told

PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (right) had said that Umno should be grateful to Bersatu and its sacrifices which helped them to be part of the federal government.

PETALING JAYA: An Umno leader has mocked PAS for claiming that the former should be grateful to Bersatu for helping it become part of the federal government.

Bersatu and PAS would not be part of the present government without Umno, especially after the Sheraton Move – which led to the fall of the Pakatan Harapan administration in 2020 – the party’s Supreme Council member Isham Jalil said.

At the PAS Youth conference earlier today, the Islamic party’s deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Umno should be grateful to Bersatu and its sacrifices which helped them to be part of the federal government.

He said Umno would not have had a chance to be in power otherwise.

Taking to Facebook, Isham said Tuan Ibrahim was mistaken, adding that Bersatu and PAS should withdraw support for the government if they believed they were dominant.

“Or are you afraid of losing positions in the government and losing the election? Do not be proud and arrogant.”

Isham added that Tuan Ibrahim would not be environment and water minister without Umno’s support.

He said Umno wanted Parliament to be dissolved after the Sheraton Move, which saw the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan government after 22-months in February 2020, but decided against it due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The current government comprises representatives from Barisan Nasional, Bersatu, PAS, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM). - FMT
