Covid-19 (Aug 31): 2,340 new cases, 6 deaths

 


COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 2,340 new daily Covid-19 cases yesterday.

Active cases currently stood at 30,991, down 27.0 percent compared to 14 days ago.

New cases according to states are as follows:

Kuala Lumpur (537)
Selangor (492)
Perak (260)
Sabah (223)
Negeri Sembilan (114)
Penang (110)
Malacca (101)
Sarawak (98)
Kelantan (83)
Johor (76)
Pahang (74)
Kedah (72)
Putrajaya (43)
Terengganu (36)
Perlis (16)
Labuan (5)


Another 6 deaths attributed to Covid-19 were reported yesterday, of which one was declared as "brought in dead".

These deaths were reported in Penang (2), Kuala Lumpur (2), Kedah (1) and Selangor (1).

Over the past week, an average of 5.6 people were reported to have died of Covid-19, while the average for the past 30 days was 8.0, indicating that Covid-19 deaths are on the downtrend.

Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, a total of 36,216 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.

There were 247 deaths reported last month and 204 deaths in July.

There are 1,301 Covid-19 patients who are hospitalised of which 69 are in intensive care.

The highest number of admissions yesterday was recorded in Selangor (91) followed by Sabah (62) and Perak (46). - Mkini
