Education minister Fadhlina Sidek said the synergy between her ministry and stakeholders has been intensified to increase students’ interest and participation in STEM as requested by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

KUALA LUMPUR
A programme with scientists will be immediately carried out at 100 schools nationwide to attract students’ interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), says education minister Fadhlina Sidek.

She said the programme would be implemented in collaboration with the science, technology and innovation ministry (Mosti).

She said her ministry, together with the higher education ministry and Mosti, had also established a special STEM committee focusing on the direction of STEM, from the school level up to higher education.

Various STEM-related development programmes, initiatives and activities are being carried out at schools involving the cooperation of corporate strategic partners and the community,
she said in a statement today.
Fadhlina also said that the synergy between the ministry and stakeholders had been intensified to increase students’ interest and participation in STEM as requested by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar, when opening the National Bioeconomy Showcase 2024 yesterday, had asked science, technology, and innovation minister Chang Lih Kang to list 100 scientists in the field of biotechnology to organise programmes aimed at attracting students’ interest in STEM at 100 schools across Malaysia.

He also asked for a report on the matter to be sent to him within two weeks. - FMT
