PETALING JAYA: The Royal Malaysian Air Force is investigating the death of a cadet, said to have happened after a training session, at a Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) campus.
The armed forces acknowledged a Malaysiakini report on the case and said the case is being probed by the air force’s provost marshal unit.
“The armed forces stresses that investigations will be conducted thoroughly and without protecting or compromising with any party involved in the case. Legal action will be taken against the party involved if proven guilty,” it said in a statement.
It urged the public against speculating on the case but to give the air force room to probe the allegation.
Earlier today, Malaysiakini reported that 25-year-old UiTM reserve officer training unit cadet Amir Rusyaidi Zaidi died on Nov 13 following an impromptu training session three days earlier.
The deceased’s father, Zaidi Abdul Rahman, had filed a police report claiming that his son was stepped on his chest, forced to act like a horse with a trainer on his back, and also ordered to hop like a kangaroo.
He claimed these actions were recorded on video by the trainer involved, and that Amir collapsed after the session and remained in a coma until he died. - FMT
