Second trailer crash at Ayer Keroh R&R causes traffic disruption

KUALA LUMPUR: A fresh incident involving a trailer colliding with a vehicle obstructing the entrance to the Ayer Keroh overhead Rest and Service Area (R&R) in Alor Gajah was reported yesterday.

A 33-second video uploaded on TikTok showed a trailer attempting to enter the R&R before sideswiping a sports utility vehicle parked on the road shoulder at a bend, resulting in traffic congestion and damage to parked cars.

The incident is believed to have occurred at the same location as a similar accident reported a day earlier.

In the video, a voice can be heard remarking that the situation appeared to be a repeat of the previous day's incident, albeit on a different date.

"Today, Dec 29, parking at Ayer Keroh again. Looks like the same story as yesterday. Same place, different day," the individual said.

Previously, a trailer that crashed into four vehicles at the same location was reported to be under investigation under Section 48(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The accident occurred due to vehicles parked on the road shoulder, which obstructed the trailer's movement.

Bukit Aman Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the police have launched an investigation under Section 48(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 over the matter. - NST
