
KUALA LUMPUR: The runway at Sultan Abdul Halim Airport in Alor Setar was temporarily closed this afternoon following an incident involving an aircraft.
Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chief executive officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud when contacted confirmed the incident.
"A Kuala Lumpur bound Boeing 737 airliner suffered a tyre burst incident at 2.40pm. As a precaution, a notice to airmen (Notam) was issued and the runway was temporarily closed to allow for inspection and clearing works.
"The runway was declared operational again at 7.30pm," he said.
Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports in a social media post said passengers are advised to check with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates following the incident and subsequent runway closure. - NST
