FOODPANDA Malaysia has expanded its pandasafe safety initiative to Penang, marking the programme’s first rollout in the northern region as the company pushes to strengthen road safety awareness among delivery partners nationwide.
The latest training session was held on May 20 and forms part of foodpanda’s broader panda hearts initiative. Since its launch last August, the programme has reached 250 delivery partners across Malaysia.
The pandasafe programme uses telematics technology to monitor riding behaviour, including speed compliance, harsh braking and cornering patterns. The collected data is then used to provide personalised safety interventions and classroom training.
According to foodpanda Malaysia, internal data from sessions involving 200 delivery partners in the Klang Valley since August 2025 showed that 87.1% of participants recorded measurable improvements in their safety performance scores, while 12.9% maintained their existing performance levels.

“Our progress with pandasafe reinforces our belief that delivery partner safety must be approached as a long-term commitment rather than a one-off initiative,” said Shubham Saran, Director of Operations at foodpanda Malaysia.
“Delivery partner safety is central to our operations as they are the backbone of our business and their wellbeing directly impacts brand trust,” he said, adding that the company aims to train 400 delivery partners nationwide by the end of the year.
The programme is conducted in collaboration with several public and private sector partners. Delivery partners receive first response and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training with Allianz Malaysia, while practical riding safety sessions are conducted with Hong Leong Yamaha Motor.
The initiative also includes financial literacy and scam awareness modules led by Hong Leong Bank, alongside social protection and safety induction sessions conducted with PERKESO.
foodpanda Malaysia said feedback from participants indicated that the training had helped delivery partners improve riding discipline and become more aware of unsafe habits during daily deliveries.
The company plans to expand the programme further to Kelantan and other East Coast states in the coming months while exploring additional collaborations with strategic partners to strengthen safety incentives for riders. ‒ Focus Malaysia
