A DAP leader has accused PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang of dangerous politicking after the latter claimed DAP was leading Pakatan Harapan in continuing a colonial agenda to sideline Islam and the Malays.
DAP central executive committee member Senator Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali said Hadi’s (above) remarks went beyond ordinary political criticism.
“Hadi’s way of doing politics is very dangerous. It is as though he is taking on God’s work,” he said in a statement today.
Hadi, in his latest “Minda Presiden” column, alleged that Harapan, which he claimed was controlled by DAP, was openly continuing a colonial agenda aimed at sidelining Islam and the Malays.
He also accused DAP of prioritising English over Malay, fielding Muslim candidates in Malay-majority seats and championing secularism.
Amanah Women’s chief Aiman Athirah Sabu has challenged Hadi to produce evidence in court over claims that DAP and Harapan are part of a colonial agenda threatening the Malays and Islam.
Aiman Athirah Sabu The deputy housing and local government minister said allegations of such gravity should be tested through legal channels rather than repeated as political rhetoric.
“If there is indeed evidence that DAP and Harapan have an agenda to eliminate the Malays and Islam, threaten the position of Islam in the Federal Constitution, or act against the foundations of this country, then bring that evidence to court and through legitimate legal channels,” she said in a statement, signed as a former PAS member.
“Do not merely repeat cheap, allegation-based rhetoric in speeches, religious lectures, media statements or political writings that inflame the emotions of supporters,” she said.
Parti Bersama Malaysia will announce its candidates for the Malacca state election on Aug 15.
“We have decided and finalised the candidates. We will announce them at an event on Aug 15,” said Bersama’s co-leader and former minister Rafizi Ramli in the latest episode of his Yang Berhenti Menteri podcast.
Rafizi also said he and other Bersama leaders will soon begin visiting parliamentary constituencies nationwide to brief new members on the party’s constitution, the upcoming general election, and planned activities.

The PKR central leadership council has rejected Nurul Izzah Anwar’s resignation as deputy president based on her request for time to pursue “personal matters” and to complete her studies at the PhD level.
Berita Harian reported party information chief Fahmi Fadzil as saying the council’s decision was consistent with Nurul Izzah’s statement that she wanted to focus on further studies.
“At the recent meeting, the council decided not to accept the resignation because she had asked for time, as stated in her statement, among other things to attend to personal matters as well as complete and continue her PhD.
“So we are giving her time, while the duties and responsibilities of the deputy president, as well as the functions of the deputy president, will be carried out by vice-president Saifuddin Nasution Ismail,” Fahmi reportedly said.
Nurul Izzah Anwar Nurul Izzah, who remains a PKR member, previously said her intention to resign marked a new chapter as she pursued further studies and commitments beyond the political arena. - Mkini
