PETALING JAYA:
The Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) complex in Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah was forced to close for two hours last night, for police to neutralise a piece of luggage found in the premises.

Kubang Pasu police chief Radzi Abdul Rahim said the pink luggage was found at Block B of the ICQS at 5.55pm, Bernama reported.

“The luggage was then taken for scanning and customs personnel found images indicating the possible presence of suspected drugs and explosive materials,” he said.

According to Radzi, the bomb disposal unit was then alerted as no one had come forward to claim the luggage.

“The bomb disposal unit from the Kedah police headquarters in Alor Setar arrived at the scene at 8.45pm to neutralise the luggage after assessing the risks surrounding the building, with priority given to the safety of lives,” he said.

He said the ICQS complex was closed from 9.30pm to 11.30pm to facilitate the neutralisation process by the bomb disposal unit.

“The luggage was opened at 11pm, and no explosive materials were found. Further inspection found only clothes, oil in a container, a black hairdryer, shampoo and lotion,” he added. - FMT
