Netizen ridiculed for asking if fruits from a Chinese neighbour is halal

 

WE have many reasons to pay our internet bills. Besides the simple fact that the internet connects us to the modern community of this world, there are other hilarious reasons too.

The social media, for example, is a place of entertainment, and at times, it does serve up an interesting morsel or two for its users.

Take for example, a clueless netizen who asked an interesting question on the X social media platform.

The unnamed netizen wondered if it was alright to take fruits from a Chinese neighbour, fearing that it might not be halal.

If he was expecting an answer, he certainly got them. The term “them” is used since there were so much interesting, sarcastic and funny feedback from our fellow netizens.

For starters, @crazymanonphone said fruit that has been used for worship or as an offering placed before a statue is forbidden.

Then there was @n_i_a95 who made it a habit not to take anything from his Chinese neighbour since the fella sprayed his own urine on his vegetables as fertilisers.

“What fruit did he give? If I get a Musang King durian, there won’t be time to ask the Ustaz as only the seeds will be remaining,” said @bungakekwa90.

The comment section is beginning to transform into a place of parody and comedy.

“It is forbidden to take. Give it to the PAS party and it becomes permissible,” said @duanz2008 while @affirmative26 suggested the netizen direct his questions to PAS too.

Perhaps the winning comment goes to @BERDBERD8989 and this was what he said:

Perhaps the biggest takeaway from the discussion is this: if you’re ever unsure whether a fruit is halal, don’t ask social media unless your real intention is to collect jokes instead of answers.

Thankfully, most Malaysians seemed to treat the question with humour rather than hostility. After all, life is much sweeter when neighbours share fruit instead of suspicion.

Whether the fruits were halal was never really answered to everyone’s satisfaction, but one thing became crystal clear. Malaysian netizens will never let an opportunity for comedy go to waste.
