KUALA LUMPUR:
The magistrates’ court here today acquitted Bersatu Youth chief Hilman Idham of causing public fear by making a statement on social media.

Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri ruled that after evaluating the evidence of prosecution witnesses and submissions from both the prosecution and defence, the prosecution had failed to establish the elements of the charge under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code.

“Accordingly, the accused is discharged and acquitted without being called to enter his defence to the charge under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code,” she said.

On Aug 20, Hilman, 37, was charged with making a statement likely to cause public alarm on a TikTok account under the name of alfah.channel.tv, which could induce a person to commit an offence against public order. - FMT
