PETALING JAYA:
Only two areas – Kuching and Sri Aman in Sarawak – remained in the “very unhealthy” category this morning as the haze situation continued to improve.

There were no locations with “hazardous” air pollutant index (API) readings of above 300 as of 8am.

Thirty-five locations, including Serian in Sarawak, which declared an emergency on Friday, recorded “unhealthy” API readings, while 23 showed “moderate” readings, and eight reported “good” levels.

Kuching had an API reading of 241, and Sri Aman 215. Serian recorded an API reading of 184 after hitting above 500, following which an emergency was declared.

An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous. - FMT
